EXT. - A DUBLIN STREET BY ST. SAVIOUR’S CHURCH - DAY 


INTO FRAME will walk a MAN dressed neatly in hat and suit.  Though obviously in his sixties, his walk is brisk and light. Verdi’s REQUIEM MASS.


FEMALE VOICEOVER

Doctor, I’m sorry to bother you, but ... the man ... I thought you should know, sir, the dead man ..


The MAN will stop suddenly, clutch at his chest, and crumple to one side against the wall, and slide down to the ground.


FEMALE VOICEOVER (CONT’D)

... Mr. Talbot here, there are some small chains about his body, sir, and I don’t know what to make of it you know?  What do you make of it, sir?  


INTO FRAME a WOMAN rushes to Matt Talbot’s side, then a man who will kneel beside the passing soul, reach into his pocket for a crucifix, and make the sign of the cross over the body.

  

FEMALE VOICEOVER (CONT’D)

I mean the chains, doctor.  They’re tight enough to hurt a bit, I think.  I mean not NOW, but you know, when he was alive ‘n all.  I mean he looks FINE, after all, but I thought you should know right away, sir.  Don’t know why a man would want to do something like that, sir.  I mean, do you

EXT. - A MORTUARY - DAY


A carriage.  Men carry the man’s body inside.


DOCTOR VOICEOVER

(annoyed)

Alright!  Alright! Miss McBride, I will have a look.  I will have a  look NOW, Miss McBride, is that what you want?


INT. - THE MORTUARY - DAY


A DOCTOR begins to move way from NURSE MCBRIDE.


MISS MCBRIDE

Why, yes, sir, that is what I want.  I just thought it was so peculiar that a man would do such a thing ....
